Philip W. Lorenz is a Senior Associate in the Atlanta office of Goodman, McGuffey Lindsey & Johnson, LLP. Phil joined Goodman McGuffey Lindsey & Johnson, LLP in 2007 after more than six years as an associate with Hawkins & Parnell, LLP, Weinstock & Scavo, P.C., and Swift, Currie, McGhee, & Hiers LLP. Phil's practice concentrates in general civil litigation and insurance defense, with an emphasis in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, premises liability, common carrier liability, commercial and business litigation, and environmental and toxic torts.
Phil graduated Magna Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where he was the 1998 Outstanding Graduate in Political Science. Phil received his law degree from Emory University School of Law in 2001. While in law school, Phil was the 2000 Georgia Civil Justice Foundation Scholar, a semi-finalist at the 2000 Dean Jerome Prince Evidence Competition in Brooklyn, New York, and helped update Conflicts in Law, Scoles & Hay (3d ed. 2000). Phil also served as the 2001 Spring Intern to the Hon. J.D. Smith at the Georgia Court of Appeals. He is admitted into all State courts of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Phil was a contributing editor to the Defense Research Institute's (DRI) inaugural "The Daubert Compendium 2002" and co-authored "Legal Malpractice: Determining Statutes of Limitation," published in the Verdict, Winter 2002. He is currently a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.
Prior to beginning his legal career, Phil served with distinction in the United States Navy, and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1993.
