Elissa B. Haynes is a Senior Associate at Goodman McGuffey, LLP where she represents insurers in a wide array of liability matters throughout Georgia in state, federal, and appellate courts. Elissa has experience defending cases involving religious institution liability, bodily and catastrophic injury, homeowners associations, negligent security, premises liability, and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims.
Elissa is a graduate of the 2016 State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyer’s Division (“YLD”) Leadership Academy and in June of 2016 she was elected to serve a two-year term as a Northern District Representative on the YLD Representative Council. Elissa also co-chairs the YLD Legislative Affairs and Appellate Admissions Committees. In the spring of 2017, Elissa was named as one of YLD’s Stars of the Quarter, an award which recognizes young lawyers who go above and beyond in the YLD, legal profession, and community. Within the firm, Elissa serves as Goodman McGuffey’s Team Captain each year for the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.
Elissa received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law (2011) and her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia (2008) where she graduated cum laude. In law school, Elissa was an active member of the Moot Court Program, winning first place and the award for “Best Oral Argument” at the Tulane Sports Law Competition and later serving on the Executive Moot Court Board.
Elissa was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and currently resides in Chamblee.
