Andrew D. Smith
Andy joined the Charleston office of Goodman McGuffey LLP in 2015. He has practiced exclusively in workers’ compensation defense for more than fifteen years. Mr. Smith has been a member of the South Carolina Defense Bar since 1999. He is also a longtime member of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Education Association and a current member of the Charleston County Bar Association. Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Law, class of ’99. His achievements at the University of Kentucky include: graduating in the top (20%) twenty percent of his class, while ranked as one of the top (50) fifty law schools in the nation by US News & World Report; being presented with the CALI award in Intellectual Property 1998; and the Best Appellant Brief in 1996. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science at Eastern Kentucky University in 1996, with a minor in English, graduating with a 3.97 GPA. For his academic accomplishments, Mr. Smith was awarded the highest academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude. Also, while attending EKU, he received the O.V.C. award 1991-1995 (awarded to the male athlete with the highest GPA in O.V.C. Conference), the AAA award 1991-1995 (awarded to the male athlete with the highest GPA at E.K.U.), and made the President’s list (1991-1995) and Dean’s list (1991-1995). He enjoys spending time with his daughter, and enjoys tennis, fly-fishing, running, and golf.
